I grew up in the wilderness of Central Australian cattle station. In third year engineering I was diagnosed with Ross River virus and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Unsatisfied with medical advice, I spent 2 years studying and experimenting.
I found the fatigue was primarily sensitive to foods, movement and stress.
After a two week fast at a retreat in Queensland followed by 9 months working as a farm hand I was cured, but susceptible to relapse.
I went on to work in agribusiness, farm management and education but found my passion for health hadn’t diminished.
My studies had been drawn to Chinese medicine as it best explained the mechanisms of what I observed in my own and other people’s health. Work colleagues sought me out for health advice and my students performed wonderfully with some education on sleep and nutrition.
While on holiday in Melbourne I happened to walk past a university open day, and signed up on the spot to the Chinese medicine program.
I continue to cultivate myself with soft martial arts, meditation, observation of nature, diet and tonic herbs.
My technical skills include proficiency in Japanese and Chinese acupuncture styles, classical and evidence based Chinese herbal medicine.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine from Torrens University and have apprenticed under senior acupunturists and herbal masters.
